Venture Capital: Valuations of startups highest in years
(SeattlePI) Valuations at venture-backed companies are on the rise in Seattle and other high-tech hotbeds, reaching heights not seen since the dot-com boom six years ago. Nationwide, the median valuation of startup companies nearly doubled to $20.4 million during the third quarter, according to a report released Thursday by Dow Jones Venture One. In Washington state, valuation increases were even more extreme. According to the report, the median valuation stood at $25.38 million, only the second time that it has surpassed $25 million since 2000.
