Back to the beginning

When we started Respectance, we were figuring out how we should go from concept to success. Of course getting the right financial support is very important. You need to convince people of your idea and of your ability to make it come true. One of the things we did is inform ourselves how other people dealt with finding a VC. A good event for that matter was the very pragmatic session that Vincent Scheffer of Waddameeting arranged. It helped us, being the new kids on the block at that time. This week I met Vincent shortly, as he heard we got funded. It was nice to see how we made part of our dream come true.

Our next goal is to become the number one player in our niche market worldwide. This goal seems more and more realistic when we look at our stats and especially at the many positive letters we get from our users. I would like to thank all of you for supporting us in such a nice and personal way. Don’t stop telling us what you like to see improved. In the end we are doing it for you.

Steve Irwin

Steve Irwin

It’s hard to believe that The Crocodile Man, Steve Irwin, died one year ago this coming weekend. His premature departure from our world struck a chord with people everywhere. His television show and he rose to fame came along with the growing popularity of reality TV ,and the global environmental movement. He made saving animals glamorous.

His untimely death reminded us of our mortality and the inherent dangers lurking in the wild that Steve loved.

At Respectance we are preparing a special tribute to Steve. We’ll be celebrating his life, his love, and his memories. Come and share your memories of a great adventurer, and a great man.

Funeral Homes Online

birds

I recently became aware that an old friend’s father died when I got an email from his daughter. It was a broadcast email with a link to a funeral home site. The site was nothing more than an online obituary with 4 lines for leaving a memory or comment. There weren’t any memories showing when I went, leaving me to wonder whether the site worked, or whether the comments were stuck somewhere awaiting moderation by some unnamed, unknown person. It was odd because everyone invited to visit would have had a connection to the man.
