Changing traditions

Picalily.com

It seems some of us here at Picalily have reached the age where we are attending funerals for our friends’ parents more than friend’s weddings. It’s a sad transition personally, but a natural one.

It’s after the funeral service when the chit chat begins that we always end up talking about what we are doing these days. It is heartwarming to see how people are embracing the ideas of social networking, of creating online memories of their own lives, of telling their own stories. Some people have commented that we at Respectance are using tragedies for ’shameless self promotion’ but my feeling from those people that we actually speak with is that we are helping to set the direction for new traditions.

Many people who use the internet are looking for somewhere central to deposit memories, create online memorials, and to keep in touch with their friends and family around the globe. These people are the ones who see the huge potential for our sites, and these are the ones who are drawn to using them.

funny how you say respectance is not for “shameless self promotion” but your blog post has 5 weblinks all to different parts of your website. i think you’d make a stronger case for your argument if you linked out to other news articles about families using online memorials as part of their grieving process
