MyDeathSpace: Morbid online memorial?

Allison Bauer left rainbows: reds, yellows and blues festooned across her MySpace profile in a collage of color. Before her corpse was pulled from the depths of an Oregon gorge on May 9, where police say she leapt to her death, she unwittingly wrote her own epitaph.

Spiritual needs get a second life

monk avatar

Working at Respectance has changed our lives enormously. We got to see things, meet people and read about subjects that we never thought we would occupy ourselves with. Nobody likes to be focussed on the passing of life for the major part of his day. But if you like to do a good job, you will have to understand whom you are doing it for.

What we found, is that there is a huge need for people to connect. Talk to others about what bothers them. Or chat about what makes them feel good. The internet is the perfect medium to make you feel better or happier.

The need for a deeper dimension online, after all the rather superficial focus of most networks, did not only get noticed by us. Now the Jesuits went online. After having done their missionary penetration in Africa and China, they now are aiming to find new followers online. The new territory to spread the word. It is not just a simple site, it is a presence in SecondLife. For those who still think that the trend is going to stop with technical use of the internet, think again. Or rather, feel again.

The day the servers died, and we launched

I've got the power

Today is the day that we planned to reach out to bloggers and journalists. We prepared the press release and are all very excited. Our big day so to speak.

So what could possibly go wrong? You read this article. Our most important server park went out of electricity. It is hard to believe how all this comes together. Of course, we are not alone in this server tragedy. Also Craigslist, Yelp and many of our other colleagues went down.

We will check our SLA ;-) But their timing was very uncool. Maybe we should give this server a real Tribute.
